This is one of those masks that can be used with multiple different costumes. You can be a meathead sports fan with a jersey or a meathead from the Jersey Shore with a tight shirt. The only limit is your imagination. So lets get started and you on your way to awesome meatheadedness. First of all download and print this template. You can print it whatever size you want, mine was 16″ x 12″. If you print it body sized and make a giant steak please send me photos. OK now that you have the print, either trace it or pin it directly to a piece of red felt:
You are actually going to want to do this twice and make two of the large red masks, one for the front and one for the back, because you are going to stuff it. Now that it is pinned and cut out, stand back and admire your work. If you were really lazy and pressed for time right now you could strap this to your face and be red blog face:
But you’re not going to do that, you are going to press ahead and get this meathead mask finished. Because that’s how you do! Now get out some cream felt and start pinning and cutting all these little cream bits. This might take a minute, so listen to some Moth podcasts, like this one about a magic nail in Boston.
Alright, you cranked that out. How crazy was that story? I can’t believe the nail almost killed the guy and then made Boston sports history! OK, now take all those little cream bits and lay them over the red mask:
That is starting to look like a steak, right? You are really getting somewhere with this project. Let’s glue this sucker down! After we get it all glued down lets sew the edges together. Leave enough room to get the stuffing in. Don’t forget the eye holes!
Stuff that baby! Give it a nice plumpness. Squeeze it if necessary but be gentle. Then after you get it stuffed, get a string or an elastic band and sew it on the back near the eye holes.
BAM! You’re done! I knew you could do it! Now get some acid washed jeans and make fun of meathead townies! Or better yet, get a football and dress up like a meathead football fan:
